Less than a mile from the Historic Village of Trinidad, this elegant home is on four acres and at the end of a private road. It is snuggled into a mature redwood forest with a third of a mile of well groomed trails. Raven Ridge Retreat is located up a hill protecting it from the fog and wind of other beach side properties; this is a peaceful, private experience where the beauty of nature satisfies your craving for tranquility. Four benches have been placed along the trails to relax and to enjoy the exceptional creek and forest views. Around the front yard there is plenty of sun exposure. Quiet, except for the occasional sound of seals in the distance, and songs of chickadees, winter wrens and Douglas squirrels; this is truly a retreat. This wood-sided home has an outside hot tub on a private deck adjacent to the upstairs bedroom. The spacious front patio has a fire pit for those who want to spend their evenings outdoors. There is a ping-pong table in the garage. For the lawn there are croquet and bocce ball.
Inside, granite countertops and a cooktop stove are centrally located for gabbing with each other over cocktails. The wet bar is where those cocktails originate; the cabinets are all custom made. All the proper amenities are here, whether you are planning a lavish dinner or want casual dining on the patio. There is a king sized bed in upstairs main bedroom and a walk in shower with his and hers sinks and showers. A set of twin trundle (day) beds in downstairs bedroom (can be made into a queen bed), and a fold-out couch/futon with a comfy mattress is in the upstairs loft. The 2nd bathroom is also located downstairs on the main level. The living room offers a t.v. with basic cable. Sorry but the indoor fireplace is off limits to guests but there is a great firepit outdoors!
If you need a break from hiking and exploring the beauty of the North Coast, you can stay inside. A large collection of music CD’s are here for your listening pleasure. There are many DVD and VCR movies, There are also some board games and a large selection of picture puzzles.
The natural setting in the redwoods has been complimented with groomed native plants, cedars, and Japanese maples. Rhododendrons (50+ of them!) start blooming in March and go on and on through May. Two ponds full of goldfish, water lilies and a pump-powered waterfall between them are a perfect place to have lunch and a chance to glimpse a threatened species, the red-legged frog or Pacific giant salamander. The large lawn is perfect for bocce ball or croquet. The backyard is a lush shade garden, full of ferns, Japanese variegated grass and more rhododendrons and Japanese maples. From there, the forest drops off towards McConnahas Mill Creek. This is the home that you will long to return to year after year.

Our stay was from 07-31-23 to 07-31-23. The home was beautiful, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The outside was beautifully landscaped, the trails were well marked and easy to walk. The hot was very relaxing after a day out enjoying the area. The beds were comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed the home so much that we requested to stay an additional night. We had a small problem with the TV, we informed the property manager, and he came right over to correct the problem. We will most definitely stay at Ravan Ridge Retreat again.

First time in CA to see All the Redwood Forrest’s and coastal area. Perfect in between spot for hikes from Jedediah down to Avenue of the Giants. House had everything we needed for cooking, relaxing in the hot tub after long Forrest hikes. As well as the fire pit in the cool evenings. Master bed could use a new mattress in my opinion. Outside landscape and pond were beautiful. Trails behind the house were nice with a cup of coffee in the evenings. The beaches n Trinidad were amazing. Be sure to see Wedding Rock and Agate beach at SueMeg park, was best part of our trip! Thanks for offering your beautiful home for our stay.

We gathered at this beautiful home to spend the weekend together for my mother’s funeral and celebration of life in Trinidad. We couldn’t have been in a better place. The redwoods and gardens are spectacular and we hosted my family for a dinner after the memorial. We used the bbq and fire pit and talked about life. It’s very close to Trinidad but you feel far from everything when you’re on the property. The house was spotless and had everything we needed.The house manual is very helpful for using the sound system,hot tub and any other questions you may have. Everything is labeled if it’s off limits. You know your in someones home and we were so comfortable sharing it together. I was concerned over the sleeping arrangements for 2 couples and myself. The large bedroom with the king bed and bathroom is perfect,but the two beds in the downstairs room are not as nice. They can be pushed together. I slept in the loft on the futon and it was very comfortable. We always do our own meals when we travel together and the kitchen is well equipped. I will definitely try and stay there again and book for a longer stay. I didn’t want to leave!

Second time back, it is a magical place where I could actually relax and heal from the chaos of life. Tucked away in the redwoods, the peace and quiet of the property, watching the sun set through the trees in the hot tub is such a fond memory. We will be back. We went hiking by day nearby, saw amazing wildlife and beauty and then returned to cook beautiful food in an amazing kitchen. Slept better than I had in years. I want to live here.

This home was an amazing experience. So relaxing and absolutely beautiful. The owners/rental company seem to have thought of everything. There was firewood available for us to use for the outdoor fire pit, food and instructions to feed the fish, an amazing water feature creating a river/waterfall between the ponds, clearly marked trails.., and a home full of beautiful art and artifacts. It felt very special to be in a home so meticulously designed and cared for. We could see so much of the owners’ personal touches, and still felt very comfortable- like it was really our home base for our stay.
No need to publish this section, but Just a couple recommendations for you to consider for future- 1-if you truly want guests to not wear shoes in the home, would be great to inform of that in the early communications - to allow us to pack socks or indoor slippers/shoes with support, 2- early guest inform of the dumb waiter would be great too - we brought suitcases upstairs THEN read the binder that said to use the dumb waiter. We’d have happily used the dumb waiter if we had known, but I would bet several guests do what we did - just take suitcases up first and then read the binder later. 3- our vote for your next investment would be upgrade to twin mattresses in downstairs bedroom. They were ok but felt noticeably softer and more worn out than our home beds or the master bed in your home.
