Jane's Creek Cottage ~ Near Redwoods and Cal Poly Humboldt!

Always clean, comfortable beds, warm and cozy, prompt responses to text msgs, laundry facilities are clean and on property, close to downtown. We always go to the farmers market in Arcata Plaza on Saturdays. We love the food truck Tacos La Bonita at Alliance and Spear. New restaurants this time were Havana Restaurant and Cafe Marina in Eureka. Enjoyed yummy chocolates at **** Taylor. Los Bagels and Scoops are a must. Didn't make it to the Co-op this visit. But love them too.

I brought my wife and one year old to this vacation home as our home base for returning to the redwoods. We loved everything about it from the tucked away setting close to downtown Arcata, the fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, and 2 comfortable bedrooms. It's even within walking distance to a park our daughter loved playing on. We had a small mechanical problem during the stay and the owners of the rental fixed it immediately! Thanks for the great service and for allowing us to spend time in your beautiful vacation home.

Jane’s Creek cottage is well appointed and very comfortable. It is close to everything, Arcata McKinleyville Trinidad on up the coast. We were there for an award ceremony at Cal Poly Humboldt, and Janes Creek cottage is only a few minutes away. Highly recommend !

This is one of our favorite places to stay in the area. The cottage has pretty much everything and is exceptionally others have mentioned, you do get some freeway noise outside but it's not bothersome in the house.

Looking for a place to stay for our first redwood experience and couldn’t decide where about we were going to stay. Found this little warm charming home and it was awesome. Old school home feel with hard wood floors Cosy bedrooms, nice hot showers, washer and dryer with use with complementary soap nice kitchen. It made you feel at home away from home. Will definitely do it again.

We enjoyed our stay at Jane's Creek Cottage very much. It was quiet and "tucked" away and just right for my sister and myself. It had a slight musty smell when we arrived, but open doors took care of that. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels for the bathroom.

Janes cottage was perfect for our "explore the Redwoods trip". Very convenient to the Redwood parks, beaches, Trinadad, Arcata and Eureka. Accommodations were very clean, with all the amenities we needed.

We had a lovely stay at Jane's Creek Cottage. The place grows on you and is lovely and peaceful. I might recommend to have coffee and sugar stocked as most people these days live by their coffee and it would be nice especially since there are no close coffee shops nearby to pop out and back in first thing upon waking. Other than that, everything was lovely.

Overall, I felt fairly satisfied with our stay here. However, it was not clear by the other reviews how loud the nearby highway traffic really is. This affected my ability to enjoy sitting outside. The house has a moldy smell, especially in the kitchen when entering the home. Understandably, it is an older home, but it was quite noticeable and caused me allergy-like symptoms... unless it was the fake-wood (LVT?) floor, but could have been both, not sure. We did not spend a ton of time at the cottage, but I would have liked to have been prepared by knowing what to expect. One roll of TP & no tissues required an early morning call for TP help on our last day. It was kindly delivered shortly after, but was frustrating having to call for something that should have been stocked in the bathroom.

This is a beautifully appointed home 2 minutes from Cal Poly Humboldt. Perfect location if you’re visiting your college student. Nice furnishings, big kitchen, dining room and living room. Well stocked kitchen. Lots of extra blankets and pillows. A little further to walk to the Arcata Square.

Note to out-of-towners: If you are flying into ACV , book your taxi from the airport a few days before you arrive. Rental cars sell out fast and there's no public transit from the airport.

This place totally met our needs. It was spacious, clean, private and super comfortable.
I especially appreciated the fact that it didn’t have the smell of highly scented products which I’m sensitive to.
The kitchen was well equipped. The whole place is well equipped while not feeling cluttered.

Loved the quiet house and it was a great location to easily get to campus, explore hiking trails, or just enjoy all the spots downtown. Our only con was how expensive the cleaning fee was in comparison to other rentals we've stayed in.

Our stay at Jane's Creek Cottage was a fantastic experience. The cottage was great- conveniently located, very comfortable, well-stocked, and spotlessly clean. The reservation process and check-in/check-out were all super easy. We stayed here for our visit to Redwood National and State Parks and the surrounding areas. I'm not sure when my next visit to the area will be, but I will definitely make this property my first choice for accommodations. Everything was perfect.

This home exceeded our expectations. It was beautifully secluded, laid out nicely, and really clean. Their expectations of us were clearly laid out which was very appreciated. One thing, though, is lack of storage. It would have been helpful to have some drawers in the bedrooms.
There was a beautiful buck (deer) resting in back of the house when we got there. He was a wonderful welcome.

The rooms are open and furnished well, but also leave space for your own items. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Perfect little spot for our family of three with a crawling infant.

Small house with everything you need. Nicely decorated and kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots, dishes you will need. Laundry room adjacent to house.
The only negative is the mattresses are soft and lumpy.
Great location to travel around area.

We were thinking we rented a tiny cottage but in reality it had plenty of space for a family of four. Perfect location to visit the redwoods (which are fabulous) although not walkable into town.

We rented this cottage for 3 nights as part of our trek up to Redwoods National Park and the Trinidad/Agate beach area. We have traveled extensively for work and pleasure and are picky about the places that we stay. This cottage was perfect - great location close to the freeway and a very short drive to downtown Arcata. Nicely remodeled and decorated with plenty of space for 2-4 people. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need for a short or long term stay. There were also several nice touches - extra pillows and blankets, throw blankets for the couch, games, travel books. We loved the area and hope to stay here again!

The location is perfect to the Redwoods, the beaches and hiking. There are great restaurants and festivities. My daughter and young family just moved to the area. We really enjoyed our stay at Jane’s Creek Cottage. It was very clean and well kept. The rental agency was quite helpful. The owner/manager showed up to do some work on another building at one point. He is a very nice and welcoming sort. The mattresses are soft and comfortable. The only thing I would like to have been different, is the bed frames. I found them to be shin bruisers and potential toe breakers. Overall a wonderful place!

We just loved this cottage. Surprisingly spacious, nicely equipped and comfortable. Our favorite VRBO yet. We didn’t know how good the location would be but it was great. We like to cook and the kitchen was great for us. Views out every window of trees or greenery in a quiet location easy to go north or south or even east.

We explored the redwood national park and arcata and were able to come home to a place that felt like home!

We stayed here for a week of fun in Redwood country and were happy to come back to this quiet, clean, spacious and relaxed abode each evening to grill, and then relax on the sectional couch in the very inviting living room. The entire place appears to be completely restored (even the grill was new) and seemed as though we might have been the 2nd or maybe 7th guests, and we enjoyed that ‘new car’ feeling. The location is very convenient: we took day trips up and down from Arcata. The house is just outside of this very charming college/cultural/foodie friendly town.

We met one of the owners who happened to be working on a property that was next to this house, and had a good chat: he was very clear about him doing the building/remodeling and his wife the decorating! Good for all of us, because they’re both very skilled!

We did mention to him our only two complaints, minor as they were:
1) the drip coffee pot is for one person: tiny. We dealt by just making multiple pots, then going into town (5 min drive) to one of many great coffee spots.
2) some of the windows (none in kitchen) did not open or did not have a screen (master br), and this did cause the air to feel a bit stuffy during sleep and early morn, because of the bedroom doors being closed.

But, really, other than those two minor things (although we are crazy with our coffee), we were very comfy (My wife and I liked the pillows we slept on so much we ordered the same online!), and would rent here and from these owners again.

This home is lovely! Simple yet excellent! The colors and furniture are comfortable and relaxing. Everything we needed was there and the level of the quality of bedding, kitchenware and furniture was high. I would mention that you could hear the highway (US 101) and that it was a bit more distant from town than I’d thought from what was written. That was fine for us, but a note.

Had a great experience- house was super clean, very nicely decorated, and beds very comfy & plenty of towels. Minor but worth mentioning as a renter: Would like more seating in the living room as the couch doesn't seat 4 people easily. It's not as close to HSU as I would have liked but only a few minutes by car, we had hoped to walk (and one can walk but the street is very busy/up a hill). Would definitely come back when visiting son at HSC and hope to do so real soon. Main street is a bit busy and can hear in one of the bedrooms but not an issue unless you are looking for a quiet retreat. Highly recommend! Thanks so much!

The house was nicely renovated. Really liked the interior decor. Renovated farmhouse,situated on a hillside, adjacent to owners main house. Quiet location. Good privacy. Great location for excursions up the coast.

If you are looking for a home away from home, this is the perfect place. This beautiful spacious full furnished house came with all kitchen & bathroom necessities, as well as cable tv & a bbq grill with outdoor sitting area. Very affordable & we even had a baby deer visit us daily. This cottage is tucked away in a very nice quiet neighborhood & has a front porch with chairs for added comfort as we had our coffee/hot chocolate. The only negatives were that we would have loved a washer/drier in the house instead of having to go to a laundromat & more screens on the windows so that we could have opened more of them. However, we will definitely stay every time we are in CA & highly recommend this cottage to everyone we know.
